I went to the hospital Tuesday for my Arthritis pain. Nothing they can do about the increasing pain in my spine, shoulders and neck, but pour even more pills down me.
I've had a few "poor me" days, but as I and someone I love very much says " the more you tell yourself 'I feel like crap' the more you will, that's the way our brains work " so I've had my few days of wallowing and now I need to cheer myself up so here's some yummy pictures for me and anyone else who loves Jared.

It's my dear daughter Emily's birthday today so ....

A Birthday Wish

On your birthday
stretch for a sunbeam...
Reach for a star...
Go for a beautiful dream.

Pick out some wishes,
no matter how far,
or how hard to reach
they may seem.

Cherish some hopes
that are dear to your heart.

And as a new year comes in view,
treasure and keep them
and know from the start
that this year
you can make them come true!

Rafa played in the longest final played at Wimbledon, with a running time of 4hrs 48min, and a 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7
Victory for the Majorcan was twice interrupted by rain.
It was a great match, probably the best I've ever seen, or at least since the Agassi win in 1992.

We have a new kitty. Well actually Sammy is 4 years old (we think) and we got him from the RSPCA.
He seems to be a house cat, as when he goes out it's just to stroll round the garden and then comes back in to his favourite blanket on the sofa.

I had to have my cat put down yesterday :(
Lennon was 15 years old and had hardly ever been ill until a few weeks ago when he was diagnosed with thyroid problems.
He seemed to be responding well to the meds and was putting on weight, but over the weekend his breathing became "strange" and his arthritis got so bad he couldn't walk more than a couple of steps at a time. I know that we didn't have a choice and had to let him go but he is and will always be missed.

I was watching Channel 5 news last night and was amazed to hear that the powers that be have just discovered that food additives may be making children hyperactive. Is this a joke or what I thought. About 23 years ago I put my then 6 year old daughter on an additive free diet because she was hyperactive and I'd heard it might help. Well within 2 weeks she had calmed down a huge amount and had started to sleep through the night for the first time ever. I was laughed at and told it was a load of old cobblers (even though I knew it was working) and now suddenly 23 years later it's in the news that companies are being asked to take all additives out of certain foods. Perhaps it just takes a while for these people to catch up.

Oh my god ... Dr Who is back and I loved every minute of the first episode.
I wasn't at all sure about having Catherine Tate as the new companion, but she's great.
I loved the Adipose, they were so cute with the one tooth and the cute little wave.

For all you Dr Who fans and especially David Tennant fans out there, this must be one of the cutest pictures I have ever seen of him....

I was awake all night thinking about my daughters. I love them both more than anything or anyone else and would willingly give my life to make everything okay for them both.
My youngest Anna always seems so strong but I know deep down she isn't coping so well with her husband leaving her. I am so proud that she has re-located back home, got a job and is trying to make a new life for herself without him. I know eventually she will get to the point where she can say " I am better off without him", but it will take time.
My eldest Emily, what can I say except that I worry about her. She has
Social Anxiety Disorder
and anyone who knows about SA  will know how devastating and traumatic this can be.
I worry about how she will cope with her life and who will be there for her when I'm gone. She has her sister, but it's not fair to think that she will have to "be there" for her for the rest of her life (although I know she will be)
If only we could wave a magic wand and take the problems of our loved ones away.

"I'll stand by you, take me into your darkest hour, I won't let nobody hurt you, I'll stand by you and I'll never desert you"

I had this dream last night that I got up this morning to find 2 separate orders from my website but from the same person and guess what, I checked my mail and..... YES.... I had 2 separate orders from the same person. Weird.... it freaked me out.
So just to cheer me up on this weird and cloudy Mothers day.....

I realize this may make people uncomfortable and I'm sure that many are not aware of this behavior, its causes and the help that's available . It's shocking how common this is, and how it's not reached the popular consciousness in any way other than a belittling "it's just a phase" mentality. So please read up on it if you can, and support the day by helping to raise awareness.

My daughter is affected by this and Self Injury can be a very hard thing to overcome so my purpose is to try and educate at least one person but hopefully many.

What Self-Injury Is

Short Definition
Self-injury is a coping mechanism. An individual harms their physical self to deal with emotional pain, or to break feelings of numbness by arousing sensation - from

Oh wow ... I've just won a job lot (20 pairs) of new Pony Pearl knitting needles (4 mm)
These needles are the best I've ever used and great for my poor old arthritic hands.
If you've never tried them you should. I could never go back to using metal needles ever.
It got me thinking about what needles other knitters use, so please take the time to let me know :)

It's 6.45 am and I've been up for over an hour (blasted arthritis pain)
I'm trying to work out a way to knit bunny ears for some hats ( customer order) but I want to make them in one peice rather than a white and a pink piece which would then need to be sewn together. I know it can be done but just need some idea how to start.......

I've just knitted these slipper booties in double knit.
I adapted them from a vintage 3 ply pattern and am quite pleased at how they turned out.
I called them slipper booties because they remind me of old fashioned slippers.
